New York, 497 Broadway, 1848. Softbound. Good+, outer wraps missing. Oval Mercantile Library stamp on title-page as well as large circular stamp of a periodical reseller named W.C. Little of Albany, NY. Disbound from a larger volume. Sheets are fragile. 24 pp. The catalogue for 1848, which begins on page 5, lists 248 works to be distributed. Included among these works is the Voyage of Life by Thomas Cole item 100, four paintings as one lot, (later distributed to Brodt of Binghampton, NY) as well as one other work by Cole. Additionally, there are 5 additional works (discontinuously numbered 252-370) being hung in the gallery which "are the property of individuals, and have been placed in the Gallery for the gratification of the friends of Art." Many of these loaned works give the present owners' name.
