Description
Program, 4to, pictorial covers, illustrated, 32 pp. Modest aging, little wear at extremities and spine; covers generally bright, clean, and firm; a very good plus copy. The 1943 series was a rematch of the previous year's championship between the Yanks and the Cardinals. However, this time around, the Yanks came out on top, and won in five games. Both teams had to do without key players, including Howie Pollet (Cards), Joe DiMaggio, Phil Rizzuto and Red Ruffing, as a result of military service. There was still plenty of talent on both teams, including Stan Musial, who won the National League batting crown by hitting .357 that year, and Bill Dickey, Charlie Keller, and Frank Crosetti for the Yanks. Inside the front cover is an interesting beer ad that shows Adolph Hitler with a losing hand of cards. baseball-almanac website.
