Indianapolis, Ind.: The Bobbs-Merrill Company, 1925. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. The true First Edition, 1925. While The Crowell Publishing Company is listed first at copyright page, with dates of 1924 and1925, they were merely the copyright holders, and the book was first published by Bobbs Merrill in 1925. Burnt orange cloth covered boards with gilt rules/lettering to front and spine. This copy is Very Good in a Very Good dust jacket. RARE in dust jacket. Tiny bump to bottom corner rear board. Small prior owner name in ink at top of front end page. Rear hinge 2/3 open yet holding nicely. Top edge dusty. RARE dust jacket has moderately soiled; a 1/2" closed tear front panel top edge; small chipping at spine ends; and a small chip top mid rear panel. Advertising executive Bruce Barton's THE MAN NOBODY KNOWS was a controversial bestseller of 1925 for its depiction of Jesus as a businessman and the "Founder of Modern Business". "Sincere and reverent throughout, Barton retold the Gospel accounts of Jesus' life and preaching as a modern man's guidebook to honest wealth and business success."(National Humanities Center, America in Class, 2012). .
