A wonderful book on France with 49 photographic illustrations of people, scenes, and art; one in color. The author, Caroline Atwater Mason (1853-1939), was an American novelist and travel writer. She was educated at the Friend's Boarding School in Providence (Rhode Island), studied in Germany, and did research in both England and the Netherlands. She was married to an American Baptist clergyman who taught at the seminary in Rochester, and notably, she belonged to the National Association Opposed to Women's Suffrage. (WIKIPEDIA).
