The 104-gun first-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy was ordered in 1758 and launched in 1765. It would become best known for being Lord Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Throughout the 19th century, it also served as a troopship and a prison ship. Moved to dry dock in 1922, the ship went through several major restoration periods, eventually became a museum, part of the National Historic Fleet, and since October 2012, HMS Victory has been the flagship of the First Sea Lord.

Description
NY: The Morse Company, 1903. Later Edition. the first edition was published in 1896. Signed presentation from Westover on the front endpaper: "June 17, 1905. May you never have any more shadows in life than is just necessary to temper the glow of the sun is the wish of yours ever. Bushy `Grown Up.' Cynthia Westover Allen." Ink name of "Gabrielle Brooks Hoffman" on the front pastedown. Cynthia M. Westover Alden (1862-1931) was an American social worker and journalist whose energies in the latter half of her life focused on securing the welfare of blind infants and children. She was reared largely by her father, a geologist, in western mining camps, and she could shoot a rifle and ride a horse at an early age. This novel is semi-autobiographical in that it is based on that part of her life. She founded the International Sunshine Society. Small 8vo., pictorial red cloth, stamped in white; 318 pages. Illustrated by J.A. Walker. With 32 plates and ad for Bushy poster at the end of the book.. Very Good (some edgewear covers & corners, with some stamping on spine rubbed; contents clean & tight).
