First edition set of 10 signed serigraphs of Mick Jagger by Warhol. Each serigraph card is 4 x 6 inches, signed by Warhol in black ink along the recto fore-edge margin. Also each card is stamped with Warhol's signature purple stamp on verso and blindstamped with Warhol's name along recto bottom edge. Each card numbered 1-10 on verso. The 10 cards are housed in a folding portfolio, also signed by Warhol on front cover in black ink. The whole set is housed in original (?) Mylar envelope. One small smudge to front of portfolio, otherwise fine. This set is a collection of announcement cards advertising the forthcoming portfolio of ten silkscreen prints on Arches Watercolor Rough paper by Andy Warhol of Mick Jagger, produced in 1975, limited to 250 copies. The dust jacket front flap identifies this as the "New Enlarged Picture Edition" with a price of "Net 65" cents. 8vo; [59]pp; navy cloth over board, gilt-stamped lettering and border, color pictorial only of a gingerbread man running through a garden; gilt lettering on spine; pictorial endpapers, navy on gray paper, ownership bookplate on ffep filled out in neat pencil; color fp and pictorial title page; text in navy; illustrated throughout; unclipped pictorial dust jacket, chipping at edges and lightly age-toned; color pictorial slipcase, rubbing of edges, small closed tear on top; fine in very good plus dj and publisher's slipcase. Not in Baumgarten. OCLC locates this in only 3 libraries. Gingerbread was a favorite treat in Europe for centuries, and later in America. Stories with gingerbread can be traced back to many fairy tales including those written by the Brothers Grimm. This story appears to be an American folktale first printed in the May 1875 issue of St. Nicholas Magazine under the title "The Gin-Ger-Bread Boy" with no credit given to an author. In the letters published by readers to the same issue of St. Nicholas Magazine, a letter appears: "The author of the "Gingerbread Boy," in our pages for Little Folks writes as follows: "The 'Gingerbread Boy' is not strictly original. A servant girl from Maine told it to my children. It interested them so much that I thought it worth preserving. I asked where she found it, and she said an old lady told it to her in her childhood. So it may possibly have been in print, though I have never seen it." Violet Moore Higgins (1886-1967) was an American cartoonist, book illustrator, and author.

Jersey City, NJ: John P. Lyon (printer), 1863. Octavo. 584pp. Tipped in is letter from the Adjutant-General of New Jersey to Col. John P. Nicholson, dated Dec. 30, 1875. John Page Nicholson, of course, was the Chairman of the Gettysburg National Military Park from 1893 to 1922. Born in 1842 in Philadelphia, he learned the trade of book-binding and enlisted as a Private in Company K of the 28th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. Within a year, he rose to 1st Lt. His unit served at Antietam, Chancellorsville, Kenesaw Mountains and Gettysburg. After the war he became the leading force in Pennsylvania to memorialized the battlefield. In 1893 he published Pennsylvania at Gettysburg and was in that same year chosen as the Chairman of the Gettysburg National Park Commission. In 1895 they turned over the park's roads, lands and assets to the United States war Department and Gettysburg National Military Park. It was established through an act of Congress through the work of General Dan Sickles. In this letter from Adjutant-General Stryker, he is assured that besides information of New Jersey Officers, he is planning an item to be published in 1876. Bound in ¾ green pebble grained morocco over marbled paper covered boards with matching endpapers, raised bands, compartments and bands ruled in gilt, lettering and top edge gilt. Light damp stain to outer margin of first two leaves. A very nice copy without foxing, names or plates.
