Description
[Ferndale, Wa., 1908. Very good.. [8]pp. Original pink pictorial wrappers, stapled. Light toning, manuscript notation and ink stamp on front cover. Faint dampstain to lower edge of text; several contemporary manuscript notations in text. Scarce work on the dwarfing of fruit trees for use on smaller lots -- thus, the "suburbanite's" garden. The author claims this is no new science, and may be "practiced by any one who is capable fo doing as they are told." There are several illustrations of varieties and shapes of dwarf tree, including those designed to live in pots in one's home. Above all, the work is a sales pitch, as the author closes by saying, "At present the chief supply must be obtained from Europe.... Next season I expect to have enough stock to supply all applicants from my own nursery." The author also wrote several treatises on the cultivation of flax, published in Washington state. Rare - we locate a single copy in OCLC, at the National Agriculture Library.
