Description
Roy D. MacLean. No binding. Fine. [Los Angeles: 1934]. Vintage original 8 x 10" (20 x 25 cm.) black-and-white double weight glossy silver gelatin print photo. Very minor wear, fine. Romantic singing idol, musician and actor Russ Columbo in a beautifully composed portrait by Roy D. MacLean. The photographer's ink stamp is on verso as is the date of Sep. 7, 1934. Columbo was the victim of a mysterious death at this very time and, in fact, died on Sep. 2, 1934. It is believed he was shot in a freak accident while visiting a photographer friend. Only 26, he was romantically involved with Carole Lombard and in consideration for the role of Ravenal in Show Boat.
