Twentieth Century Fox. No binding. Near Fine. Los Angeles: 20th Century Fox, [ca. 1954]. Vintage original 8 x 10" (20 x 25 cm) black-and-white photo. With ink stamp on verso of "Dorothy Dandridge, 20th Century Fox, Internal use only". Near fine. Photo used to promote Dorothy Dandridge at the time of her work in Carmen Jones. Dandridge became the first black actress to be nominated for the Academy Award as Best Actress in a leading role. Though she looked at it as a big break, having been in show business since childhood, Dandridge found that great roles for black actresses were not forthcoming. Photo numbered 952/S/26.
