Octavo (22cm); publisher's green gilt-lettered cloth, brown glazed endpapers; ix,[1],182,[15](ads)pp.; engraved frontispiece and two leaves of plates bound in rear, text illus. throughout. Moderate wear to cloth margins, old private library spine label, hairline crack to rear hinge; Very Good and sound overall. Ownership ex libris to front pastedown of the English electrical engineer Alfred Still (1869-1963) and the later Scottish chemist and bibliophile Sydney Ross. Also laid in is an original 1961 German franked envelope marking the 100th anniversary of the invention of Reis's "make and break" telephone.
