Description
Frankfurt/Main: Revolver, 2004. First edition. Hardcover. Fine condition. Laid in original aerial color photograph signed by Peter Piller, numbered N 27, dated 2004. (10 x 10") "Von Erde schöner" was published in an edition of 800 copies with numbers 1–30 containing a signed original photograph. Large Quarto Square (11 1/4 x 11 1/4"). Original tan cloth with black lettering on cover and spine, in original photo-illustrated dustjacket in color, black lettering on spine; housed in original gray cardboard box with black lettering on white label of cover. The publication was sponsored by the Albert-Renger-Patzsch-Preis of the Dietrich-Oppenberg-Stiftung, Essen. "Approximately 20,00 aerial photographs of single residences were part of a company estate I took over in 2002. Between 1979 and 1983 countless settlements were flown over at low altitude to take aerial photographs of single residences to sell to potential buyers. Their versos contained insightful notes, e.g.: "No interest in photographs," "Von Erde schöner", "Wife wants, but house too expensive," "I can get half a motorbike for that," "Doing it myself," or simply "Deceased." Various sightings of the archive lead to areas to collect and inventory categories, like "sleeping houses," floral bodies," and "human in front of house." A fourth, fifth and sixth view of 18 moving crates full of lightly yellowed photographs and negatives finally revealed, what this book now reveals." (Peter Piller). Text in German. Cardboard box with light wear along edges, else in Fine condition. Box protected in modern mylar.

Description
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. No binding. Fine. Los Angeles: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, [1933]. Vintage original 10 x 13" (25 x 32 cm) sepia double weight matte custom photo. Vintage original 10 x 13" (25 x 32 cm) sepia-tinted double weight matte custom photo. Handwritten in pencil on verso: "Rush, Crawford, 1933". Indicated for three 11 x 14" and six 8 x 10" prints. Hand-numbered 4424. Fine. Very few prints were made of this exclusive image, perhaps used for just one publication. In 1933, Joan Crawford appeared in the MGM films Today We Live, Sadie McKee and Dancing Lady (for which this glamour portrait, in which she wears a gown by Adrian, would be used to publicize). Though not photographer stamped, the image is likely by Clarence Bull.
