All volumes feature gorgeous frontispiece engravings by Simon Brett, replicated on the covers. Bound in quarter black leather stamped in gilt, with boards wrapped in Brett's illustrations. Comes in a matching brown board slipcase stamped in gilt. Various translators. Volumes include introductions, prefaces, notes, appendices, suggestions for further reading. A spectacular set in excellent condition. 6 3/4 x 9 1/2 inches.

Chicago: Reilly & Lee, 1919. Very good plus.. Early printing of this Oz entry that begins with a mystery: Princess Ozma has disappeared. Inspired by a fan letter, Baum wrote this fantasy adventure in which Dorothy and her friends must investigate the disappearance of the beloved Princess Ozma. The three girls, all non-Oz natives, must look beyond the ordinary in order to track her down. 9'' x 6.75''. Original light tan cloth with original pictorial paste-on to front board, "Reilly & Lee" to spine. Pictorial endpapers, all edges tinted yellow. Title page imprint reads "Reilly & Lee" (Bienvenue 1919 printing). Illustrated by Neill with 12 color plates and additional black and white images. 11 titles, the last of which is TIN WOODMAN OF OZ (1918), listed on verso of ownership leaf. 312, [2] pages. Early bookseller ticket to rear pastedown. Tiny repair to rear joint, a bit of rubbing to cover plate. A few spots here and there, else clean and bright.
