Description
1901. NAKAMURA, Gyokushu. Miyama no shiori. 2 volumes. Kyoto: Honda Unkido, 1901. An exquisite collection of designs probably created as patterns for kimonos. In fine condition and extremely rare. Some of the plates have a distinctly modernist feel. There is some soiling, but the stunning plates are immaculate. OCLC lists The National Diet Library and the Wolfsonian.

Description
A near-complete run in 187 of a total of 189 published issues (lacking only 2 issues: Vol. I, No. 8 and Vol. II, No. 37) of the international Trotskyist political journal before its name changed to Intercontinental Press, under the editorial direction of Joseph Hansen, Pierre Frank, Livia Maitan, and George Novack, published under the auspices of the United Secretariat of the Fourth International and covering world political struggles and major events including the Cuban Missile Crisis, the 1968 uprisings, the Vietnam War, the coup in Indonesia, the Algerian revolution, guerrilla warfare, and many others, with a combination of original reporting and reprints and translations from local radical journals. Very few illustrations. 4to. Stapled self-wrpps., some with illustrated covers. Some minor handling wear, a few detached pages, minor rust residue around some staples, overall excellent. Paris (later New York) 1963-1968. A mission statement on the aims of World Outlook reads: "World Outlook specializes in weekly political analysis and interpretation of events for publications of the labor, socialist, colonial independence and black liberation movements." The first issue also carries a declaration "Our Stand" which goes on to say, "We will not observe any official or unofficial censorships, nor will we modify anything because of partisan considerations. Our commitment is to report the truth as accurately as we can without favor or slant...Unsigned material expresses, insofar as editorial opinion may appear, the position we stand on - revolutionary Marxism.

The next year a follow up was published recording the return portion of Macartney's voyage to China, visiting Madeira, Teneriffe, Rio, Tristan de Cunha, Java and Vietnam.
