Description
San Francisco: North Point Press, 1985 Originally published in 1960. First edition thus ("Revised edition"). Signed by Berry on the front free endpaper. Publisher's white wrappers, lettered in gray; in its original wraparound pictorial dust jacket designed and illustrated by Laurie Anderson, with an illustration of a cottage in the forest. Fine book; near fine unclipped dust jacket, with some toning to real panel and flaps, and a small crease to bottom left corner of rear panel. Overall, an excellent copy. Nathan Coulter is Wendell Berry's semiautobiographical debut novel - a coming-of-age story about a boy in a farming family headed by a domineering and emotionally distant father. For this 1985 edition, Berry extensively revised the work, even removing the final four chapters that trace Coulter's transition to adulthood in favor of a more ambiguous ending. Wendell Berry (1934-) is a poet, novelist, essayist, farmer, and environmentalist, whose writings often advocate for harmony between humanity and the natural world. . Signed by Author. First Edition Thus. Hard Cover. Fine/Dust Jacket Included.
