Description
London: Sherwood, Neely and Jones, 1821. First edition, first printing. Hardcover. Good. 8vo. xvi, (1), 376pp. Half green morocco, spine in six compartments, gilt, gilt rules on the boards, green cloth sides, top edge gilt, cloth endpapers. First issue, with the first music sheet unnumbered, no foot note to page 9, and 'good-bies' in the first line of page 376. With 36 hand colored aquatints and Designs on Wood by I. R. and George Cruikshank. The binding is lightly rubbed else near fine. The title page has been remargined, and there is general soil and foxing, with other neat repairs, throughout the text block. Ownership inscription dated 1843 on a preliminary blank, and again on the restored upper margin of the title page leading to the conclusion that these repairs were made prior to that date. So only a good copy of a scarce issue in a lovely binding. .
