Description
St. Petersburg: Nikodim Press, 2019. Limited Edition. Hardcover. Fine. Sayenko, Dmitry. One of 20 copies, folio size, 32 pp., signed by James J. Owens and Dmitry Sayenko, in slipcase. Dmitry Sayenko (b. 1965), born in the Ukraine, is a printmaker and book artist. He graduated from the Mukhina Art School in St. Petersburg in 1995, and now lives and works in Russia. He prints and binds his own books; a true book artist, he not only prints and binds, but carves the blocks, sets the type, and often makes the paper for the books himself. His works are in private collections as well as institutions around the world, including the Russian National Library, the Staatsbibliotheck, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Birmingham Museum of Art, the Van Abbemuseum, and the Eoun-ho Kim Collection, among others. "An Arthurian Narrative Sonnet Cycle" is the second book with an Arthurian theme upon which Dmitry collaborated with James Owens, a specialist in Arthuriana and fluent in Latin. Dmitry has always produced lovely illustrations, but he has reached new heights with this work – this is not a book for children. It is a book for those who have ever felt passion, love, lust, hatred – the words of the Arthurian legends live in these illustrations. Dmitry’s vision has clothed Jim’s words with flesh, and the result is astounding. ___DESCRIPTION: Bound in half red leather over decorated paper boards, one linocut by Sayenko on the front board, paper label mounted to the front with red lettering, red endpapers, title page with lettering in red, the text is carefully placed upon each place so that the words and illustrations form a complex dance, with each complementing the other, linocuts on every page in black and shades of grey printed upon paper which has been "distressed" which gives added dimension and weight, printed in an edition of 20 copies, this no. 11, signed by both James Owens and Dmitry Sayenko on the colophon; folio size (13 1/2" by 9 3/4"), unpaginated with sixteen printed leaves. Encased in a matching slipcase of sturdy cardboard, the sides covered with decorated paper matching that on the boards and with red lettering on the spine. ___CONDITION: Fine, with clean boards, straight corners without rubbing, a strong, square text block with solid hinges, the interior is clean and bright, and entirely free of prior owner markings; we acquired this copy directly from the book artist, it is as new. The slipcase also fine, clean and without wear. A stunning rendition of the Arthurian legend. ___POSTAGE: International customers, please note the following: (i) additional postage may apply as the standard does not always cover costs, please inquire for details; and (ii) any taxes, duty, or tariffs charged by your country will, of necessity, be your responsibility.. ___Swan's Fine Books is pleased to be a member of the ABAA, ILAB, and IOBA and we stand behind every book we sell. Description
London: Faber & Faber, 1996. First printing. Near fine.. First edition of this unconventional diary, with a bookplate signed by Eno from his friend Stewart Brand's Global Business Network Book Club. Diary for 1995 of Eno, who decided to keep a record of the year at the end of the previous, together with the 'swollen appendices' of the title: a collection of essays, stories, interviews, correspondence, and other documents included in the last quarter of the book (and printed on different colored stock to emphasize the point). The diary covers a productive time for Eno, in which among other events he worked with both U2 and David Bowie. This copy was distributed to members of the Global Business Network, an organization founded by WHOLE EARTH CATALOG editor Stewart Brand, and signed by Eno on their bookplate. Brand and Eno were friends and their correspondence about the Bosnian conflict is included throughout this book. YEAR remains one of the most extended artistic and biographical documents from the hugely influential artist, writer, musician, and producer. It was reissued in a 25th anniversary edition. The true first, however, remains uncommon, and it is decidedly scarce signed. 6.5'' x 5''. Original color pictorial wraps featuring a photograph by Anton Corbijn. 424 pages. Signed by Brian Eno on a "GBN [Global Business Network] Book Club" bookplate tipped to the half-title. Some faint reading creases to front wrap, trace shelfwear. Overall clean, bright, and sharp.

Still very good.
Description
[Chalchuapa, El Salvador, 1876. Still very good.. [3]pp., on a bifolium. Folio. Crinkling and minor wear at edges. Faint dampstain to upper right corner. The president of Guatemala, Justo Rufino Barrios, invaded El Salvador in 1876, following the presidential election there. Barrios suspected that both the elected and former presidents had been harboring Guatemalan opponents to his regime, and hope to install someone more favorable. The present "political plan" for El Salvador reads more as an indictment of the two leaders, Santiago Gonzalez and Andres del Valle, than an as organizing document for a new government. The first signer here is Rafael Zaldivar, the choice of Barrios for next president of El Salvador, and the work was printed in the field at Chalchuapa on April 10, 1876, approximately one week before the decisive battles that forced the capitulation of the Salvadoran government. Not in OCLC.
