Thick quarto (33.5cm); sage green paper-covered boards and white cloth backstrip, with titles stamped in gilt on spine and front cover; top edge gilt; xii,236,[4]pp, with pictorial frontispiece and 39 plates of illustrations. Pictorial bookplate of Ancell Harrison Ball and Isabel Taylor Ball mounted to front pastedown, with a gift inscription to Ancell from Isabel directly above it: "A.H.B. from I.T.B. / Christmas 1903." Light external wear, sunning and dust-soil to backstrip, partial cracks to hinges (though still firm), with evidence of an old bookplate removed from front pastedown; contents clean and complete; Very Good, lacking the dustjacket. Housed in a custom quarter morocco slipcase and chemise. A substantial, richly illustrated history of the pointer dog breed. 89234.
