Description
New York: Frederick A. Stokes Company, 1933 Illustrated with a frontispiece of Pat standing on a hill in front of the moon by Edna Cooke Shoemaker. First American edition, second printing. Publisher's green cloth, with front board and spine lettered in silver foil, and blue-green endpapers; in its original dust jacket, with an illustration matching the frontispiece to front panel, lettered in black. Very good or better book, with light toning to spine ends and light fading to spine, a gentle lean to spine, and light spotting to top edge; very good or better unclipped dust jacket, with shallow chipping to spine ends, light toning to spine, faint marks to front panel and spine, a crease to front flap, and nicked corners. Overall, a pleasing copy of this scarce Montgomery title. Pat of Silver Bush traces the life of Prince Edward Island native Pat Gardiner from the age of 7 to 18. Pat is devoted to her home of Silver Bush and resistant to change of any kind (she even cries when trees on her property are cut down), but she's forced to reckon with change and loss nonetheless as friends and family depart for one reason or another. Montgomery wrote one sequel, Mistress Pat (1935), which follows Pat into her early 30s. . First American Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Dust Jacket Included.
