Description
Various. No binding. Near Fine. Np: 1970s. Set of 2 vintage original black-and-white photos, overall near fine or better. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn (1918-2008) was a Nobel Prize-winning Soviet and Russian author and dissident who helped raise global awareness of political representation in the Soviet Union. (Wikipedia) - One 8 1/2 x 6 1/2" (22 x 16 cm) photo, extensive mimeographed text on verso describing "his first full day of freedom" having left the USSR and at this moment in Germany, 1974. - One 8 1/2 x 9 1/2" (17 x 25 cm) borderless double weight portrait with stamp on verso of a US photographer. Presumably, this smiling photo was taken shortly after Solzhenitsyn arrived in America.
