Description
New Orleans, 1960. Near fine.. Broadside, 9 x 6 inches. Minor toning. Broadside urging the white citzens of New Orleans to stop buying Ford cars, claiming Ford profits "have been distributed to integration and civil rights organizations" to the detriment of white folks "by forcing them to associate with negroes." The broadside declaims, "It is time to dry up at least one source of the money that is being used to destroy our Southern way of life. Don't ever buy a Ford again." The Citizens' Council of Greater New Orleans lobbied for boycotts on several companies that they felt were encouraging Southern society into integration.

Description
[Hollister, Ca.]: September 13, 1878. Very good.. [19]pp. Quarto. Original printed wrappers, completed in manuscript, bound with silk ties. Contents entirely in manuscript. Light wear and soiling to wraps. A charming production of a manuscript juvenile newspaper, written and collected by the public school students of Hollister, California, during the late 1870s. The text begins with an "editorial," a short reflection on how adults and children have different conceptions of their "school days." The following articles comprise short compositions on various subjects such as water ("water is a great aid in forming temperance societies"), moral courage ("all the good papers advise everybody to have moral courage"), and the privileges of leap year ("young ladies have the privilege of saying anything they please during leap leap year"). The whole is accomplished in the steady script of the editor, Miss Cora Tennant, presumably a teacher. The cover is printed with blanks for the issue number, date, and editor's name, such that the paper must have been an ongoing concern, but we are unable to locate any additional examples.
