n.p., 1906. Hardcover. Good. 27 gray leaves with information, mostly clipped from promotional material, etc. mounted on both sides of all leaves. Sound but discolored spine-sloped black album. 31 cm. Almost all of the material relates to a wide variety of performers -- singers and other musicians including at least two pairs of blackface minstrels, comedy acts, actors and plays, trick biyclists, acrobats, aerialists, wrestlers, jugglers (including The Tennis Duo -- probably Albrtus and Hawley), trick barrel jumpers, contortionists, etc. As to the date and location, an April, 1906 holograph note from Bob of "Bob and Daisy Cunningham" in Peoria assures John Connors in Springfield. Illinois that they will be there on time. A green broadside containing List No. 43 of around 200 silent films for rent from Inter Ocean Film Exchange in Chicago seems to list, based on a quick spot check, a lot of 1906 films although we failed to locate the film titled "Sherlock Holmes.

Description
San Juan, Puerto Rico: Jack Vandermeyer, 1936. Paperback. Very Good. illustrations (some color), photos and 2 maps, 47, [1]p. Softcover in original wrapper. 31 cm. Some cover soiling scuffing and wear. Internally sound and clean with some minor corner curling. Not found in OCLC although the Universidad de Puerto Rico at Rio Piedras seems to have a copy. The New York Times Book Review of July 5, 1936 gave a paragraph to the English language magazine's debut. We found nothing to definitive as to whether any additional issues were published. We also had difficulty finding much about Mr. Vandemeyer, the editor and publisher. The front cover illustration and one of the other color illustrations in this issue were done by Eliza Bellows King Dooley, 1880–1958, who is also listed (as Mrs. Henry W. Dooley) as Art Director for this periodical. Her Wikipedia entry offers some details about her life in Puerto Rico and elsewhere as an American government official, artist, and writer.

Description
Boston: Otis Clapp, 1848. FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH. Original yellow printed wrappers. The publisher’s English translation of Swedenborg’s popular cosmological treatise. In it, the author claims that there are two worlds—the natural and the spiritual, each with its own sun. The sun of the natural world is fire and thus all beings that live in its presence are dead, and the sun of the spiritual world is only a manifestation of God’s love. Man may ascend from the natural to the spiritual world and attain immortality through moral words and deeds.

Description
A small autograph album (8 cm. x 12.5 cm.) belonging to Lydia A. Edwards, who name is penned floridly on the silk moire endpaper. Most of the autographs are signed without comment, with the name of some Florida locale (though some are from such far-flung climes as Illinois). Occasional sentiment or verse. We like “Love me little | Love me long | Do not flirt | For it is wrong” on a laid in note. And are charmed by an elaborately penned, in alternating letters of red and blue, “Remeber (sic) your friend, Clyde”.~Spine has been repaired. Brown calf binding ruled in gilt with border in blind and elaborately stamped “Autographs” to the front cover.

Description
Garden City NY: Doubleday, Doran & Company, Inc.. Near Fine in Very Good dj. 1928. Later Printing. Hardcover. (in A.L. Burt reissue dust jacket) [minimal shelfwear, top corners a bit bumped; jacket edgeworn, a bit of paper loss at spine ends, a few small edge-tears]. Proto-feminist novel that grapples with the burning question: "Is there a new kind of woman coming to disturb our homes -- a woman who lives by making war on her kind? Has the freedom won by the 'old-fashioned suffragist' been taken over by a new 'emancipated' type who ignore women's duties while demanding women's privileges? Hilda Reynolds was forced to believe so. She had created for her husband, her three boys, and her flapper daughter, a household where there was a spirit of sportsmanship and loyalty. Perhaps she did 'wear hats that would have caused a civil war,' but she was a good mother and a good citizen. Then Vesta took the house next door, and Hilda's quiet, happy life was rudely shattered." The author (1888-1952) had been a newspaper reporter at age nineteen and also wrote magazine fiction; she published her first novel in 1917 and subsequently wrote one or two books every year until 1934. (NOTE that the book itself bears the Doubleday, Doran identification inside and out, but is encased in an A.L. Burt reissue dustjacket.) .
