Description
1968. Herge. FLIGHT 714, printed by Methuen, 1968, First Edition in English, UK, Hardback, Rare Tintin First edition book. This the twenty-second volume of The Adventures of Tintin, the comics series by Belgian cartoonist Herge. When originally published in first edition in English by Methuen, the volume was titled Flight 714; since the series' republication by Egmont Publishing, it has been referred to " Flight 714 to Sydney", corresponding to the original French title. This is the original 1968 1st UK Edition printed by Methuen 1968, with the short title. Harry Thompson praised Flight 714 to Sydney, believing that with it, Hergé was at the "top of his form".[ Thompson also noted that the scene of the extraterrestrial spacecraft bore similarities with the depiction of the alien ship in the 1977 film Close Encounters of the Third Kind, highlighting that the film's director, Steven Spielberg, was a known fan of The Adventures of Tintin. Cover is very nice with minor wear only and some minor wear to corners, rear cover is great except for small damage to 1 corner, spine is good having been expertly repaired with red tape. Inner end pages have some scuffs/small tears to center. The Pages are very nice throughout with minor yellowing, no scribbles or inscriptions throughout. Very Good condition.
