Universal. No binding. Near Fine. [Los Angeles]: Universal Studios, [ca. 1915]. Vintage original 4 3/4 x 6 3/4" (12 x 17 cm) double weight glossy silver gelatin photo. Near fine. On March 15, 1915, film producer Carl Laemmle officially opened Universal City Studios on a 230-acre ranch in the San Fernando Valley, creating the world's largest, self-contained "movie city". Featuring its own police, fire and hospital services, it was designed for integrated production, offering early visitors tours for 25 cents to watch silent films being made. (Wikipedia) Within the Universal Laboratory building was the continuity and cutting department, as described in pencil on verso. This is where scenes were assembled in accordance with the continuity and pasted together. The department employed women mostly. There is an ink stamp and holograph note on verso: "English Edition".
