Description
Le Livre des Livres. A fusion of poetry and art and one of Pierre Lecuire's most ambitious projects, this innovative and remarkable work is made up of two volumes of poetry. The idea for Le Livre des Livres was greatly inspired by the etching Les Trois Livres by Hercules Seghers, where the artist created figures out of books. The poems take on various universal themes, and Lecuire was determined to publish Livres de Livres completely on his own so he could have full control over the typography and style of the book as well as the ability to choose the artists, artists he considered to be the greatest of their time. Both volumes are held in an artistic binder signed by reknown 20th century bookbinder Pierre-Lucien Martin complete of chemise and slipcase. Each volume is bound in a full navy blue leather cover with a composition of wide vertical grooves, smooth spine, decorated with the golden title, linings and endpapers.LECUIRE (Pierre).
