Description
New York. , September 17, 1754.. A letter between members of two prominent Dutch families from upstate colonial New York. Christopher Bancker, a merchant from New York City, whose son became Speaker of the New York State Assembly, writes to Myndert Schuyler, whose father and uncle both served as mayors of Albany, and whose family members were early settlers of New Amsterdam/New York and later played significant roles in the American Revolution and the founding of the United States. Bancker offers his condolences to Schuyler, and writes of illness and construction of a house. An interesting piece of correspondence between two significant political New York families. Previously folded, separated at center fold, lower fold beginning to separate. A few small chips at upper right. Tanned, light foxing. Dampstains in upper and lower right corners. Good.
