Original maroon morocco, stamped in blind with raised bands, simple gilt-stamped spine title, a.e.g., yellow endsheets; rubbed. Provenance: Inscribed E. R. Dukes D.D., Henry Thomas Glyn March 14th 1845. Very good. With a fore-edge painting of Venice (La Punta della Dogana). The scene is copied after Canaletto’s painting. Commissioned by Harrington’s with their cost-code.

Title-page in red and black print.Quite crisp and clean throughout the text block. 452pp. + 21pp. index and errata page. Text in Latin and Hebrew. Bertramus (1531-1594) was a prominent Dutch Professor of Hebrew history.The first edition was published in 1574. This edition, published by Constantin L"Empereur ab Oppijck, another noted Dutch theologian, has expanded notes, extensive textual citations in Hebrew with Hebrew vocabulary at the end. OCLC shows 9 libraries with this book in their inventory. ABPC (Biblio) shows no auction sales for the past 30 years. Please see photos.. Later Editioin. Full Contemorary Vellum.
