Description
New York: The Baker & Taylor Co, 1894. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. First Edition. Hardcover. Follow the Japanese Fringetail Goldfish gleaming from the green depths of the front cover and immerse yourself in this 1894 guide to aquarium-keeping, full of tried and true advice for "the amateur aquarist" and illustrated in 61 figures of aquariums, aquatic plants, fishes of gold and paradise varieties, snails, frogs, and much more, with detailed instructions for selecting the best fresh-water fishes and plants, how, when, and where to obtain them, and how to keep them in fine swimming health! 7 1/8" X 5". x, 114pp, plus illustrated ads. Presents nicely in protective archival jacket. Bound in full aquamarine cloth over boards, with goldfish stamped in gilt to upper board and to spine, both decorated in black coral and lettered in kind. Moderate wear to binding, with scattered rubbing to decorations, light dust soiling to cloth, dulling to spine, rubbing and bumping to extremities, and slight lean to spine. Hinges a touch tender; binding remains firm and sound. Pencilled note to front free endpaper, light foxing to endpapers, and occasional pencilled check to margins, else pages clean and unmarked. Illustrated in 61 figures.
