Small 4to, [4], 407 pp. [there is one leaf of the index bound out of place]. Mettler comments that this book was, 'one of the most popular therapeutic works in the middle of the seventeenth century'. The book is a complete guide to treatments of all kinds omitting only surgical procedure. It is classified by disease or complaint supplying the causes and signs while recommending cures. The work is ambitious including chapters on palsey and paralysis, 'A method serving for the knowledge of Melancholy or Black Choler' etc.. New York, NY.: The American Tract Society. Very Good. 1832. 1/4 Leather. This book is hard-bound in blue cloth with a gilt stamped green leather spine. The covers show light scuffing, edge-wear, and light rubbing to the corners and spine-ends. The spine shows light scuffing, toning, and a few small speckled damp-stain spots. There is a small tear to the top of the lower joint. The binding is solid. The contents are bright and generally clean, but with light scattered foxing. There is a nice frontispiece illustration, and an extra engraved title-page. There is a small bookplate at the front which is Signed "Wm. H. Warner, 1844." .
