First Edition of one of the earliest books on the automobile, especially remarkable for its many illustrations of early "horseless carriages." The original printed wrappers in which this copy was bound were fragile and generally did not survive. Norman 1931. See Dibner, Heralds of Science, 184. .

Daniel Appleton White (1776-1861) was an American statesman, lawyer, and Judge of Probate in Essex County, Massachusetts He was also a member of the Massachusetts Senate and was elected to Congress. He graduated with a law degree in Harvard University in 1797, and In 1837 Harvard awarded him the Honorary Doctorate of LLD in recognition of his achievements in the field. Very good in brown paper wraps with black title to front wrapper. Minor edgewear and soiling to wrappers. Text crisp and clean.. EDU110051.
