Description
Letters. Very Good +. A moving, heartfelt letter (probably from the 1950s) from a kind Japanese baseball fan named Yutaku to a 10 year old American boy named Paul. In the handwritten letter, Yutaku wishes Paul a happy birthday and includes as a present an original patch from the Yomiuri Giants, Japan's most successful baseball franchise (having won 22 national titles) and viewed by many as the New York Yankeees of Japan. Founded in 1934, the Yomiuri Giants compete in the Central League in Nippon Professional Baseball to this day and they now play their home games in the Tokyo Dome. The patch resembles that of a Major League team and boasts its red and navy-blue team colors. The letter, which measures 5 3/4" x 7 3/4", is crisp and bright and eminently legible in its blue ink. It has both an even vertical and horizontal crease and shows just a touch of creasing and light soiling along the edges. Framed in an offsetting dark wood. A lovely example of an International meeting-of-the-minds through baseball.
