[Paris]: [Henri Plon], [n.d.]. FIRST AND ONLY EDITION. With an engraved frontispiece representing the instrument invented by Dr. Sales-Girons and constructed by Charriere (repeated in the text). Bound in boards, morocco backstrip. A fine copy. First and only edition of the original detailed instruction manual on use of this rare medical instrument. Charriere (1803-76) was the most eminent French medical instrument-maker in the nineteenth century. Invented by Sales-Girons (1808-79) in France and presented at the Medical Academy in Paris, 1858, the present copy is the only book of instructions located.

New York: The Living Theatre, 1959. Very Good +. New York: The Living Theatre, [1959]. Two pieces of ephemera. Flyer (28x22cm) lightly toned at edges; otherwise clean with sharp corners. Palm card (19x11cm) toned and scuffed. Altogether Very Good or better. Scarce pieces of Living Theatre ephemera promoting The Connection, a play by Jack Gelber. Directed and designed by Living Theatre co-founders Judith Malina Julian Beck, the show also featured jazz music by The Freddie Redd Quartet. The Connection earned three Obie Awards in its first year - Best New Play, Best All-Around Production, and Best Actor. It is considered to be The Living Theatre's first great success. In 1961, it was adapted by the experimental filmmaker Shirley Clark. As of March 2026, we locate no separately cataloged examples in OCLC.
