San Francisco: The Book Club of California, 2004 Book. Fine. Hardcover. First edition. Small quarto. Pp. xii, 213, [2]. Illustrated throughout with color plates and black & white illustrations. Two-tone tan and orange cloth lettered in dark brown. A very fine, as new copy. One of 500 copies designed by Andrew Hoyem and printed by his Arion Press. Printed letterpress in Kennerley type and printed on Legion Letterpress paper. Cover decorations by Valenti Angelo reproduced from the Colt Press' The Wife of Martin Guerre, 1941. Founded by Robert Grabhorn's wife, Jane, along with W. M. Roth and Jane Swinerton, the Colt Press flourished from 1938 until the War dissolved the partnership in 1941. All the Colt Press books were printed by The Grabhorn Press. The first book from the Press was Oscar Lewis' Lola Montez, the Mid-Victorian Bad Girl in California..
