Paris / UK: not published, 1871. Original Documents.. Not bound, contained in a leather box of the period.. The documents and box are in very good condition.. Folio. Leather box with wax seal and three large drawings An example of the legal devices necessary for the commercial exploitation of an original invention. The invention was a complex machine designed by Henry Renno Heyl of Philadelphia for the manufacture of paper boxes. The documents consist of the original French patent application (28 folio ms. pages) accompanied by three original drawings on vellum of the machine and its parts. Within days of being granted a French patent Heyl also applied for an English patent and appointed a nominee by the name of Benjamin Mills who immediately transferred it to the American Paper Box Machine Company. The original folio English patent, seal, and transfer papers are present as well.
