Description
Philadelphia: University of Pennsylvania Press, 1971. First edition. Softcover. vg. 8vo. x,129pp. Original wraps. Inscribed on half-title page by Joseph Silverman to Rabbi Braunstein and his wife: "For Baruch & Gladys Braunstein with friendship & admiration, Joe Silverman, 1/28/81." Work with three fundamentally important groups of ballads of the Sephardic Jews of Bosnia: Kalmi Baruch's Spanski romanse; ballads collected from the readers of the Sarajevo newspaper, Jevrejski Glas; and five previously unedited 18th century ballads from a manuscript in the Jewish national and University Library in Jerusalem. Original one page letter, handwritten by Silverman (dated 6/26/81), on University of California University, laid-in. Top and bottom corners of wraps slightly bumped and creased. Minor rubbing on tail of spine otherwise a tight copy in near fine condition.
