Description
A Paris: A.M. Lottin, 1764 First edition of this proposed study and guide to education, published two years after Emile. Barbier attributes it to a "professor of philosophy" named Robert, but Cioranescu and most other sources attribute it to the French priest Gérard Sutaine (1718- ). Contemporary calf, gilt spine with burgundy morocco label. . Twelvemo. Some surface abrasion to both covers, corners lightly worn. Marginal dampstaining to last few leaves. Overall very good, clean and fresh throughout This work is divided into three parts. The first, which occupies more than half of the volume, presents the author's plan for young people's studies, noting the subjects to be covered, the qualities required of a master, and the authorities on which the plan is based. The second part consists of Duguet's plan of classical studies, with a catalogue of the historians and other authors cited, while the third part contains a dissertation on the nature of education.

Description
Norton, Massachusetts, 1911. Softcover. Very Good. Oblong small quarto. Measuring 10" x 7". String-tied black paper with "Photographs" on the front wrapper. Contains 88 sepia-toned and black and white gelatin silver photographs measuring between 2" x 2.75" and 3.5" x 4.5", some with captions. Very good album with some small chips and tears with near fine photographs. A photo album kept by a girl from the Wheaton Seminary class of 1912. It begins with a group image of the girls in white dresses followed by a pictorial postcard of the "Woods Wheaton Seminary" and the inside of a dorm room with a Harvard pennant. The women are seen posed around the campus, with sports equipment, in their dorms, and in costumes dressed as colonial men, Native Americans, and various animals, usually with signs for identification. One photo shows a visiting Dartmouth field hockey team posed with their sticks and a sign for the college. The students participated in May Day and paraded about the campus in white dresses with parasols lead by the May Queen. The final page shows a group of women in 1962 and 1967 at the 50th and 55th reunions of the class of 1912. Wheaton Seminary was founded as a female seminary in 1834 and later converted to a four-year women's college in 1912. They didn't allow men until 1988 and existed for over 150 years as a female-only institution.

Description
1941. Paperback. Very Good. Six-page memorandum written by Williams while he was working for the National Resources Planning Board in Washington. Original typescript signed by Williams, probably a retained original since this came from Williams' library. We have not identified Watkins. Williams reports on what he observed during a multi-day rail tour that appears to have taken him to Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio and West Virginia; national defense needs seem to be an important consideration in his observations.
