Description
New York: Covici, Friede, 1931. First Edition. Fine. First edition. Number 30 of a limited 391 copies signed on the title page by E. E. Cummings in green watercolor. 119 pp with 99 black and white plates of his art in charcoal, ink, oil, pencil, and watercolor - hence the acronymic title. Bound in publisher's rough burlap over boards with upper board stamped in silver; lacking the scarce glassine dust jacket; housed in a rough card cover slipcase, perhaps original but not mentioned by Firmage. Fine, the nicest copy of this fragile production we have ever handled, with light thumbing. A truly superlative copy of the writer and artist's monograph highlighting his artistic passion through a series of expressionist portraits of friends and figures like Charlie Chaplin, nudes, landscapes, and still lifes. Cummings always considered himself equally a painter and a poet, but his literary fame often overshadowed his visual art. A defining monograph that launched the genre of the "art book"; uncommon in such excellent condition. Firmage A10.

Description
U.S. Department of Agriculture, 1927. Hardcover. A wonderful collection of 115 agriculture leaflets, handsomely bound into a single volume, published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Ranging from March 1927 to February 1936, this collection runs the gamut from Hygiene in Fox Farming to Woodchuck Control in the Eastern States. A terrific glimpse into rural life just before and during the Great Depression, these leaflets were practical and instructional, born of the most basic needs in farming and homesteading. The single volume is a VG, thick octavo, bound in quarter black leather with navy blue cloth boards. With beautifully marbled endpapers and marbled edges. A powerful piece of Americana. and a reminder of the necessary thrift of the period.

Ex-private law firma library with barcode label on front cover and location label at foot of spine, else very good. Publisher's Price USD 206. Special $25. * In 1825, the U.S. Supreme Court stated : "The Courts of no country execute the penal laws of another." One hundred and fifty one years later, in a very different world, the United States signed prisoner transfer treaties with its neighbours, Canada and Mexico. Today, through additional bilateral treaties and multilateral treaties negotiated under the auspices of the Council of Europe and the Organization of American States, the United States has prisoner transfer treaty relations with 77 countries. This treatise, designed for prosecutors, defense attorneys and academics, describes in detail the legal basis and operation under these treaties from the perspective of the United States by the former Department of Justice official responsible for their initial implementation.
