First edition. A discourse on the French woman's fashions over the 19th century to the present day of publication (1886), and the fashions of her surroundings. Much of the text is lighthearted and some quite humorous. First edition, 1 of 7000 copies; off-white wraps, printed and ruled in red and black; small chip to tail of spine; a few small spots to margins; two small deaccession stamps to title page verso and several lines underlined in pencil; in good condition. The first of several stand-alone volumes, the book detailed the proceedings and resolutions of the First All-Russian Conference on Children's Literature, held in early 1931. It outlined the methods the Soviet ideologies were communicated to the younger generation - from pre-school age through the teen years.
