Description
New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1902. Later Edition. Cloth. Near fine. From the personal collection of Rear Admiral Samuel Eliot Morison, Ph.D., Paul Jones: Founder of the American Navy by Augustus C. Buell, inscribed and annotated by Morison.. Octavo, [two volumes], xv, 328pp; vii, 379pp. Blue cloth, title in gilt on spines, illustrated gilt medallions stamped on front covers. Top edge gilt. Held in custom acetate dust jackets. Solid text blocks, some pages unopened, light rubbing to corners, bookseller's label on front free endpaper, both near fine examples. Inscribed by Morison on front free endpaper of Volume I: "S.E. Morison / I bought this fake biography just for the pleasure of annotating the fake parts in red. It is one of the most dishonest biographies ever written." Morison continues through the text with various notes on nearly every page, with comments like "fake," "pooh" and "never happened." Rear Admiral Samuel Eliot Morison (1887-1976) was a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and a 1964 recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Morison is best remembered for his 15-volume set titled "History of United States Naval Operations in World War II" and biographies of Christopher Columbus and John Paul Jones. His biography of Jones was inspired by all the faults he saw within this work written by Augustus C. Buell, a controversial author who frequently plagiarized and fabricated his biographies.

New York: Oxford University Press, 1967. First Edition. Cloth. Near fine/very good. From the library of Chief Justice Warren E. Burger, Anglo-American Criminal Justice by Delmar Karlen, inscribed by W. Reece Bader, a law clerk of Judge Burger.. Octavo, xviii, 233pp. Beige cloth, title stamped on spine. Reece Bader was a law clerk for Judge Burger while he was serving on the United States Court of Appeals, the year before Burger was nominated by President Nixon to serve as the 15th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Judge Warren E. Burger (1907-1995) served as the 15th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. He was nominated in 1969 by President Richard Nixon and served until his retirement in 1986. His nomination was due to the retirement of Chief Justice Earl Warren, which was announced during the final months of the Johnson administration. President Johnson nominated Associate Justice Abe Fortas to the position of Chief Justice, but the nomination was filibustered in the Senate. After 17 years on the Supreme Court, Burger retired in 1986 and was succeeded by William Rehnquist. He died in 1995.

Description
Providence, [Rhode Island]: Weeden and Peek; Crosby & Nichols (Boston), 1848 First edition. Though OCLC lists 28 copies worldwide (all within the United States), this is very scarce in commerce. Publisher's dark brown blindstamped cloth with gilt title on spine. . Twelvemo. Title page browned (perhaps from a previously laid-in insert). Light foxing otherwise. Mild shelf wear to spine. Signature of previous owner in pencil on frontmatter. A good or better copy. An ambitious story of virtue and vice set just after the War of 1812. The author writes: "Most of the persons mentioned in the work, [sic] are regularly descended from one our Pilgrim Fathers. The writer was acquainted with several aged descendants of this Puritan, and from their lips received most of the account given — the remainder occurred under her own observation."

Description
Folio, original covers with gilt lettering on front cover, tape repairs to spine with plastic identification label attached to spine, 33 (of 35) maps, missing maps supplied in facsimile, only 7 (of 32?) of the other illustrations are included. Partially disbound, and missing two maps and most other plates, title page separated from text block with tears and chips at extremities, but no loss, binding somewhat crudely rebound with tape, and chipped and worn at the edges, one engraving torn, and map of Warwick Village torn and chipped in the margin, but with no loss, some scattered foxing, but most of the maps are bright and clean. Rather scarce county atlas, with the OCLC locating only 9 copies. Despite its flaws, it contains several nice maps including maps of the United States, New York, Orange County, Goshen, Middletown, Deer Park, and Newburgh. While most of the maps are present, this atlas is being offered as a collection of maps because of missing plates and two maps.
