Catalogue from the exhibition of 5 paintings and 10 glass mural paintings by German artist, Karin van Leyden, held at Blanche Bonestell's gallery in New York on March 25, 1946. Includes a brief essay (top half of folded brochure) and the list of works (bottom half). "Karin van Leyden's radical renovation of medium transforms the easel picture into an object in harmony with the materials of modern architecture for the house of the future." Karin van Leyden, was born Elisabeth Frieda Johanna Erna Kluth the 23 July 1906 in Berlin-Charlottenburg in Germany. She married the Dutch painter, Ernst van Leyden in 1932 and began experimenting in figurative abstraction. Van Leyden signed her paintings as "Karin" and died in Lugano in June 1977. She knew many of the major artists, writers, and musicians, such as Chagall, Foujita, Zadkine, Giorgio de Chirico, Picabia, Man Ray, Aldous Huxley, Thomas Man, Henry Miller, Bertold Brecht, Salvador Dalí, Stravinsky, Schoenberg, Rubinstein, Charlie Chaplin, Orozco, and Rivera (of whom she painted a portrait). Alongside painting, Karin became known on both sides of the Atlantic as a designer , designing furniture projects for the interior designer Paul László. A very scarce catalogue.
