Description
New York: Kettell & Moore, 1851. Original printed front wrap [prominent rubberstamp, chipped, loose], stitched [loosened], 30pp. Title page rubberstamped, release stamp. Port. frontis with tissue guard. Good. Rare separate printing, having appeared in the Democratic Review for November Wool was a career soldier who distinguished himself in the Mexican War. At the time of this piece, he was commander of the Eastern Military Division. This pamphlet, whose appearance suggests a small presidential boomlet for Wool, says his "Mexican campaign will stand out in history as a model campaign." So far as his personal bearing is concerned, his "general character approaches nearer to that of the immortal Jackson than that of any public man lately before the people." FIRST EDITION. Not in Sabin, Haferkorn, Tutorow, Eberstadt, Decker, Nicholson. 548 NUC 0594669 [1].
