Description
Atlanta, GA: Nexus Press, 1985. First edition, deluxe issue limited to 50 copies "printed on Curtis Rag white wove 75 lb. text, hand-bound (recessed cord with half leather cover), signed and numbered by the author" . . . all copies bound with archival materials: linen cord, wheat paste, hot glue, and conservation matt board. Ingres Antique used for the endsheets and cover paper." On the colophon, the author has numbered and signed the book "14/50 Keith summer solstice 1985." Presentation copy, inscribed on the half-title by Smith to his friends, Jonathan Williams and Thomas Meyer: "For Tom and Jonathan from [Bobby] and Keith 1 May 1987." As the colophon states: "Bobby (was) imaged on an Apple Macintosh computer. The basic composition of each page triplicated and modified for three color separation. Each modification printed out by an Apple image-writer for making negatives. Bobby printed offset in magenta, cyan, and yellow by Nexus Press . . . Michael Goodman, director, Clifton Meador, assistant director." There were 1000 copies printed on Mohawk Superfine paper, although the scarcity of Bobby in any form certainly suggests that the entire intended edition may not have been completed, or not entirely distributed, perhaps owing to its very personal character. A very fine copy. Small folio, illustrated, original quarter leather and pictorial boards, acetate dust jacket as issued. A very fine copy.

Description
1 p.l., 120 pp.; 21 p. & 19 leaves of author index in a contemporary hand. Two parts in one vol. 8vo, attractive antique calf-backed paste-paper boards, spine gilt, red morocco lettering piece on spine. Paris: G. Martin, 1752. One in a series of the very rare later auction catalogues issued by Gabriel Martin (the Paris de Meyzieu of 1761 being his last). This library was formed by Gravelle (1699-1752), a magistrate in the court of inquiry of the Paris Parliament who is today best remembered for his Recueil de pierres gravées antiques, published between 1732 and 1739, and for his parody L’Amant déguisé, which was performed after his death. He was an expert engraver who prepared the etchings for his book on engraved gems. This was a fine and scholarly library of 1723 lots, rich in literature and books on antiquities and art. There are many 16th-century works. The final 21 pages describe his large collection of prints and drawings (113 lots), including works by Watteau, van Dyck, Boucher, Guercino, Le Brun, Rembrandt, Teniers, An. Carracci, etc. Fine copy. The first part has been priced throughout in a contemporary hand. There is also a most unusual manuscript index at the end. ❧ Lugt 785. Benezit Dictionary of Artists. Esprit des Livres website. Description
Paris: De l'imprimerie de Mme. veuve Agasse, Rue des Poitevins, no 6 , 1818. First Edition.. Contemporary half leather.. Very good; occasional spotting; modest rubbing.. 8vo, xl, [1] - 192, [2 - folding tables] pp. + 6 leaves of plates Rare. Among the most lethal of the commercial decorative-arts trades practiced in the 18th & 19th centuries. The gilding of bronze castings and the high finish and design achieved for such articles was a defining characteristic and mainstay of the Parisian clock, furniture, and arts trade. So dominant were the Parisian merciers in this that attempts to establish competitive practitioners of gilding in other nations all failed. The author's Ottomeyer & Pröschel have characterized the trade in their epoch two volume Vergoldete Bronzen, 1986 as (vol.1, p.323): "Das Pariser Vorbild blieb im 19. D'Arcet's book is exceptional for its detailed exposition of the trade and the means to accomplishing the finished product. The book was printed by Mme. Agasse who was both printer and bookseller.

Description
Peiping, China: War Area Service Corps of the National MilitaryCouncil, 1946. 2nd Edition stated. Very good. 7¼” x 5”. Paper wrappers. Pp. 28 + fold-out 9” x 7” map. Very good minus: wrappers lightly soiled, moderately split at head and lightly at foot of spine; small closed tear to edge of front and corner chip to rear; age-toned and fragile with light scattered spotting. This is a rare and illustrated guide to Beijing issued after the conclusion of World War II by the War Area Service Corps (WASC), a military branch of the Chinese government tasked with catering to foreign troops. An introduction to this small book read, “Allied Friends – Welcome! Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek sincerely desires and has, therefore, ordered the WASC . . . to make your visit in Peiping a happy and pleasant occasion. The WASC has been entrusted with this task because it has been taking care of United States Forces personnel in Free China ever since 1942 . . .” It promised to help “you get to know the Peiping all of us love.” The book includes a “brief historical sketch” of the city, complete with a chronology of the dynasties of China, as well as descriptions and small illustrations of favored tourist destinations. There is a great fold-out “Skeleton Map,” identifying temples, hostels, directions to airfields and points of interest such as the Palace Museum, Bell Tower, Central Park and Library, numbered to correspond with their descriptions in the book. Six pages were dedicated to a directory, with addresses in both English and Chinese, of WASC headquarters and hostels, churches and missions, clubs and associations, movie houses, dance halls and restaurants, including one menu. Rare. OCLC shows only one holding, at the National Library of Australia.

Description
Amherst, Massachusetts: Amherst College Press, 1988. Folio, paperbound (stiff blue printed wrappers), [29] pp. Near-Fine, with very slightly rubbed covers. From Introduction: The poetry of Mark Akenside (1721-1770) may not be widely read today, but in the eighteenth century and for much of the nineteenth his work was held in the very highest esteem, and writers as eminent as Wordsworth and Coleridge were considerably indebted to him...The Amherst Akenside holdings were originally mounted in Dyson’s own copy of the 1772 Poems, and together they form the largest single collection of his poetic manuscripts in the world...The manuscripts give the pieces [Ode to a Gentleman Whose Mistress Had Married an Old Man and Ode to a Gentleman in Hazard of Falling in Love] in a state quite different from that of the first printed texts...
