London: Kegan Paul, etc., 1903. Frontispiece of the Earl of Southampton in colors by Harding after the original painting, decorated throughout with initials and ornaments by Macdougall. Limp vellum, Kelmscott style, gilt lettered, silk bands, top edge gilt; an uncut copy on Arnold’s unbleached hand-made paper. Some foxing on rear paste-down and verso of last leaf, otherwise a spectacular copy. Limited edition, ours being Number 9 of 400. Dowden (1843-1914), an Irish poet and authority on Shakespeare, was professor of oratory and English literature at Dublin University.
