Description
[St. Paul, MN]: Haynes Inc, 1935. 35377. Large silver print photograph [40 cm x 50 cm] / [16" x 20"] on a heavy stock. 'Haynes, Yellowstone Park' blind stamped in the lower right corner. Haynes number and title printed on the reverse. Strong contrasts. Tape residue across the top and the lower left corner. View of Top Notch Peak reflected in the waters of Sylvan Lake. Jack Ellis Haynes (1884-1962) began working in the family photographic business at a relatively young age and toward the end of 1916 he formally bought out his father's interest in the Yellowstone photography business and was awarded sole right to produce pictorial souvenirs. An accomplished photographer in his own right, Jack operated the park concessions and Saint Paul studios under the name 'J.E. Haynes' and then 'Haynes Inc.' (1937-1945). In 1945 Jack and Isabel moved the base of operations to Bozeman, and established Haynes Studios Inc.
