Description
Nashville: The assembly, 1895. Pamphlet. 29p., printed double-column smallpoint, staplebound 8.5x5.5 inch self-wraps with plain printed cover title. Front cover, and to some extent the back, was exposed to severe dust-soil. We used an artist's erasure-shavings pad to remove the worst smuts. Paperstock very toned but not badly fragile. The initial vote count for the 1894 election indicated that Evans, the Republican candidate, had won, but the Democractic-controlled legislature declared that voter fraud had occured and negated over 23,000 votes, allowing Turney to win.
