Soiling and discoloration to title (with one marginal chip) and final leaf, light foxing
Description
London [but Edinburgh]: Printed [by Thomas Ruddiman] for T. Boreman, at the Cock on Ludgate-Hill; and sold by the Booksellers of London and Westminster, 1735. Soiling and discoloration to title (with one marginal chip) and final leaf, light foxing. 8vo (7.5 x 4.75 inches). 12 leaves: [3], 10, 10, [1] pages. Text in Latin and English on facing pages. Disbound. A very scarce Scottish piracy of Pope's explicitly sexual and allusive poem, first published on 21 December 1734 in folio by T. Boreman. The present octavo edition, with a false London imprint, is one of only a handful of contemporary reprints, and is located in only 9 institutions in ESTC. The advertisements on the last leaf list the present work at 6d, followed by another dozen inexpensive pirated editions. Boreman paid the substantial sum of 60 guineas for the copyright. Pope chose to publish anonymously so he could more easily deny having written this “impudent satire'': a brutal caricature of Lady Mary Wortley Montagu as Fufidia, the woman who “thirsts and hungers only at one end''. Speaking generally of the concealing dresses of women, he comments: “A Lady’s Face is all you see undress’d;/ For none but Lady M---- shows the Rest''. ESTC N23061; Foxon P970 (who attributes the printing to Ruddiman on evidence of the ornaments); Griffith 348. Scarce.

Description
Hollywood: ASC Holding Corp.. Very Good+. 1976. Magazine. [each of the three issues is in VG+ or better condition; one has a subscription address label on the rear cover, another some remnants of a removed label]. A three-part series on the early history of Hollywood studios by one of its most erstwhile chroniclers, featuring dozens of rare photos of studio plants and personnel. Each article is briefly INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on its first page, and one of the articles includes a few emendations and corrections in the author's hand; the inscriptions are to another distinguished film historian, Rudy Behlmer, from whose estate these were acquired. The series is contained in three consecutive issues of American Cinematographer magazine, each of which of course is jam-packed with other articles and features of interest, notably: an article on the filming of Stanley Kubrick's BARRY LYNDON, and multiple articles on film production in Hungary (the March 1976 issue); numerous features on the filming of the 1976 Winter Olympics (April 1976); several articles on the filming of ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN, and coverage of that year's Oscar nominees and winners for cinematography (May 1976). Signed by Author .

Description
Los Angeles: Echelon Book Publishers, Inc, 1970. Near fine.. A standout among the many anxiety-driven Erotic Businesslady titles that bloomed, like a thousand flowers, in the fertile soil of the sleaze publishers of the dawning 1970s: a world where anything could be sensationalized, but especially a woman with a Job. "No wonder then - that when the American female began to move into jobs that had hithertofore been reserved for males - the charisma associated with the travelling salesman would be transferred to his female counterpart." Attention must be paid. Impact Library #IL-546. Mass market paperback. Pink wraps with photo illustration on front cover. Minor edgewear; faintest rubbing to back cover. 160 pages.

Description
New York: Dial Press Trade Paperbacks, 2010. Later Printing. Paperback. New. 287pp. Octavo [20.5 cm]; illustrated wraps. "Cat's Cradle is Kurt Vonnegut's satirical commentary on modern man and his madness. An apocalyptic tale of this planet's ultimate fate, it features a midget as the protagonist, a complete, original theology created by a calypso singer, and a vision of the future that is at once blackly fatalistic and hilariously funny. A book that left an indelible mark on an entire generation of readers, Cat's Cradle is one of the twentieth century's most important works--and Vonnegut at his very best." --from Publisher.
