Description
London: R. Ackermann, 1810. First Edition. Half Morocco. Very Good. The original appearance of Doctor Syntax and much more, including lovely views of Italy, Spain and elsewhere. 8vo. 52 aquatint plates, 50 of which are hand-colored. The majority of plates are by Rowlandson. The morocco is scuffed and rubbed but as a set, remains attractive. The boards are otherwise covered with a pebbled cloth that quite convincingly looks like morocco. Interior-wise, the pages are toned to varying degrees, and there is some light scattered soiling. Typical offsetting to the plates, sometimes quite heavy.
