Description
1884. ROSENSTIEHL, M.A. Les premiers éléments de la science de la couleur. Collection de Tableaux Coloriés faisant suite à la conférence faite par l'auteur le 28 septembre 1881. xi, [1], 53, [3] pp., illustrated with five wood-engraved diagrams, numerous tables, and 9 plates of which 5 with colour swatches. 4to, 265 x 170 mm., bound in modern boards with the original gray printed wrappers preserved. Mulhouse: Imprimerie Veuve Bader et Cie., 1884. First edition. Rosenstiehl's seminal pamphlet on colour theory including Maxwell colour discs, the multi-coloured wheels that give the illusion of being a single colour when spun. Published by the Société Industrielle de Mulhouse after a conference given by the author in 1881. The text is illustrated with four pairs of discs and 49 colour swatches on 5 plates. Apart from damage to the original wrappers, a fine copy. Rare: OCLC finds no locations in the U.S., and only 7 worldwide.

Very Good
Description
1949. Single sheet. Very Good. A very scarce Richard Wright item as well as an elusive piece of post-War African-America ephemera and poetry. Printed on a single blue-green sheet of paper (measuring 8 1/2" x 11") is a withering poem called "The FB Eye Blues". There is no information about who published the poem or where it was published. Only offered is the poem itself, the identity of its author (the celebrated African-American writer Richard Wright) and the year it was seemingly offered, 1949. This copy shows light soiling and offsetting but remains crisp and bright. When unfolded, the sheet of paper shows 4 even quarters. No copies appear to be on the market (at least the virtual market) currently and none has shown up in the auction world, according to our research. There are several copies in institutional holdings (at Brown University and the Morgan Library, for example) but no doubt this is a very uncommon piece.
