Description
Typed document, legal size sheets (14" x 8 1/4"), title contents sheet, plus 24 stapled (but not all connected) leaves. Half the sheets somewhat darkened and brittle, first sheet missing part of top margin, but not affecting text, some edge wear and corner chipping, a few archival corner reinforcements; still in very good condition, considering the quality of the paper. This is a very interesting document that provides information on the early activities of the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) by a group called the Progressive Citizens of America. The document seems to have emerged as a result on the "attack on Hollywood," including movie producers, directors and actors. Many of these people would be blacklisted over the next few years. The Progressive Citizens Group argues that many feel that the activities of HUAC are themselves Un-American, and show little regard for the Bill of Rights. The document describes members of the committee, their voting record on some issues, and other activities connected to the HUAC. Richard M. Nixon is one of the key members, and to illustrate some of the members hypocrisy, it shows that Congressman John Rankin didn't feel the Ku Klux Klan deserved any special scrutiny, since it was an American institution. Interestingly, the document lists some friendly witnesses that seem to have given up some names to the committee, including Walt Disney, Robert Taylor, Adolph Menjou, and Louis B. Mayer. A list of 19 names of "unfriendly witnesses" who decided to defend their constitutional rights were also listed. No copy of this document is located by the OCLC.

Trade PB "Combining his knowledge of weightlifting, strength training, and martial arts with a solid foundation of philosophy, [the author] sets out to right wrongs and foil evildoers as The Ninjew, an exceptional Jewish warrior. In this exciting half-biography, half-fictional account, [the author] spins a compelling tale of foiling a complex plan of terrorist actions in his native Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and neighboring Youngstown, Ohio, with his strength-training and clean-living sidekick and student, Barry. Skillfully weaving his invaluable knowledge of diet and exercise as part of a life plan along with philosophy and a flair for the dramatic, Mr. Walters has penned an entertaining and educational look at the life of an average man with awesome abilities who is determined to be a champion for freedom and justice." The author is "a self-employed personal fitness trainer"; ya think? .
