New York: A. C. Armstrong & Son; London: Elliot Stock, 1982. 5 volumes (first thru fifth series, of 7), large 8vo, original morocco-grained brown cloth-backed green cloth boards, gilt lettering on spine, fore- and bottom edges uncut; tops of spine slightly chipped, texts variously toned, and several hinges starting to crack, but generally a good, and reasonably sound set of the first 5 volumes. An interesting compilation, with much on rare books, typography, libraries, maps, manuscripts, forgeries, etc. Ulrich & Kup, p. 147: "A fine all-around periodical for collectors, bibliophiles, and librarians." Succeeds Book-Lore (1884-87), which itself was a continuation of The Bibliographer (1881-84).

Description
Berlin: Jüdischer Verlag, 1919. First edition. Hardcover. f to vg. Quarto (10 1/8 x 7 1/4"). 112pp. Original illustrated grey cloth, with dark blue lettering to front cover and spine. Book housed in its original illustrated cardboard slipcase. Frontispiece map of Lublin. Illustrated tailpieces. "Die Judenstadt von Lublin" (The Jewish Town of Lublin) was written by Majer Samuel Bałaban (1877-1942), one of the most outstanding historians of Polish and Galician Jews, and the founder of Polish Jewish historiography. Illustrated with numerous b/w illustrations by Karl Richard Henker, this work tells the story of the Jews of Lublin (Poland) who occupied an entire Jewish town* beside the Christian town, and where they were granted the right 'de non tolerandis Christianis' (the right to exclude Christians from the settlement), in analogy to the corresponding right 'de non tolerandis Judaies' in the Christian part of Lublin. Slipcase foxed, age-toned, and partly rubbed and chipped along edges. Minor shelf wear. Text in German. Slipcase in overall fair, binding and interior in very good condition. *In 1939, there were approximately 42,000 Jews living in Lublin, of which only 200-300 survived the holocaust either by hiding or surviving various camps.

Description
Tokyo: Yushodo Press Co., Ltd, 1998. cloth. Shakespeare, William. large 8vo. cloth. 357 pages. First edition. This book presents a faithful transcription of marginal annotations by an early seventeenth-century Scottish reader of Shakespeare's First Folio (1623), which is now in possession of the Meisei University Library. As primary source material for research, this "diplomatic" transcription, accompanied by more than 40 photographic reproductions of the Folio pages, offers the most reliable information as well as the most definite proof of the rising readership of the day, not only of Shakespeare's plays, but also of books in general. A long Introduction precedes the transcription, which is equiped with textual and explanatory footnotes. Also prepared at the end of the book is a glossarial index that records a large number of words that are not found in the Oxford English Dictionary and many Scottish words as well.
