Description
WILLIAMS, William Carlos. Signed Photograph. A 6- by 9-inch reproduced photograph of Williams, removed from the special Oct. 1946 William Carlos Williams issue of the "Briarcliff Quarterly," which was dedicated to Williams and contained numerous works by and about the New Jersey-based poet. [See Wallace C374]. Information below the image states the photograph is by Charles Sheeler at the time of the Dial Award to Williams in 1926, age 43. Inscribed by Williams beneath the image: "To [Nick?], by virtue of a man who wants to do my portrait. William Carlos Williams." Williams used two pens for the inscription- his signature is in a darker ink than the inscription and he was gone back and touched up about four letters in the original inscription. $875.00.
